'cognitive-behavioral therapy' 'launch party'

thursday, may 15, 7 p.m. at melville house (145 plymouth street), go here for the facebook listing

there will be organic vegan food & wine, i will read reviews of werner herzog movies and other movies, and i made 32 copies of the first edition of 'north american hamsters' to give people who come (i think more than 32 people are coming; if you want to reserve a chapbook for me to give you at the event you can do that in the comments section of this post)

The road is set.
The clouds are busy.
We are moving.
We cannot be stopped.
We are the storyline inside you.
I am your dreamworld.
Tao Lin.
I am your launch party.
And I am putting you through a table.

if you go there and type Ctrl + F, and then type pain and suffering, you will find the words pain and suffering. i googled your name with pain and suffering, there were 296 matches.

I'm sure you vegan kids will have a good time, although I hope you can all fit into the tiny Melville House place, given the fact that Dennis's enormous self-regard tends to leave take up so much space there won't be much room for a lot of people.

Meanwhile, more manly men and womanly women -- real people -- will probably prefer to go to this:

Akashic Books invites you to a launch party to celebrate the publication of BROOKLYN NOIR 3: NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH, the latest installment in the award-winning Akashic Noir Series.

--Thurs., May 15, 6:30pm: Join editors Tim McLoughlin & Thomas Adcock and many of the book's contributors, along with the Akashic Books staff, at the Brooklyn Historical Society (128 Pierrepont St.) for short readings followed by a (non-vegan) wine/beer and cheese reception.

You're welcome to come too, Tao, when you start eating some red meat and start needing to shave.

Normal people who are indifferent to Tao Lin would do better to go to this event in Brooklyn:

BookCourt hosts Samantha Hunt, author of The Invention of Everything Else. Her new novel imagines a friendship between a chambermaid at The New Yorker Hotel and Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) the Serbian engineer who immigrated here, invented radio, proved the efficacy of AC electricity and is probably the greatest genius most Americans have not heard of. He was also one of the quirkiest. He spent the last years of his life living in The New Yorker Hotel after having been evicted from other Manhattan hotels due to his tendencies to invite pigeons to share his room. FREE! 163 Court St near Dean St, Cobble Hill, 875.3677.

Why bother to go to some boring event with Tao Lin or some Brooklyn Noir snorer when you can see Samantha Hunt at Book Court?

Johnny and Karen have pretty weak promotional skills. I do not believe they are real people. I think they need to try harder and be smarter.

Karen, your event WILL be boring. I promise. And Johnny, 'NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH' is something that someone ways when they are lying or when they are serious and stupid. Go to promo school. Duh.

i don't want to hold past the event, the 'reserve' thing is just for people to get in person at the event

i think it might be a 'ploy' to get people to come maybe, or that if you come late and 'reserved' you can still get one, it has that purpose also

11:34 PM
Blogger Tao Lin said...

good job reserving everyone, i will reserve for you

I don't know if I can commit yet to the party so I won't reserve, but these chapbooks are strangely alluring...

tao lin, i have news, news from the working man...you are not funny, your brittany spears stickers are not funny, i know some seventh graders though who would think you're hilarious. you are the toilet humor of the writing world. i've seen tao lin written on more bathroom stall walls than i care to recount. and everyone of them is wrong, if i call you i will not receive a good time, it wont be funny, it wont be witty, it'll be depressing and you wont know why.... because you think you're funny. i am the hardest working man in america, i can also be the hardest laughing man in america, but you... you are not funny
