I haven't encountered him before these readings and reading this blog. I'm "impressed". There is something "original" here. I don't know what it is yet. I did have the sense that Mr. Lin was not communicating a story so much as a kind of consciousness that was very childlike. It all has something to do with the difficulty of "communicating". This is clear when we listen to young children who struggle with desperate sincerity to tell a story. It seems to me that Mr. Lin is communicating a similar desperate sincerity but as an adult. He wants to start with language in a fresh way, like modernist painters who tried to capture the compositional instincts of a child. "Oh," said Sponge Bob.<br /><br />I'm not mocking.
